Captain Timothy M. Wilson

Captain Tim Wilson, a native of Bend, Oregon, graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science in 1985. He received his commission upon completion of Aviation Officer Candidate School in 1986 and was designated a Naval Aviator in 1987.

Captain Wilson's first fleet service was piloting the SH-2F with the "Seasnakes" of HSL-33, where he made a WESTPAC deployment on USS WILLIAM H. STANDLEY (CG-32), and a NORPAC deployment on USCGC MELLON (WHEC-717).

Captain Wilson's next tour of duty was as a flight instructor with the "Archangels" of HSL-31, where he served as Assistant Operations Officer, and as the COMNAVAIRPAC Representative to the SH-2G Fleet Introduction Team's initial cadre. Following the disestablishment of HSL-31, Captain Wilson attended the Naval Postgraduate School, earning a Master of Science Degree in Operations Research.

Captain Wilson's next assignment was in USS CLEVELAND (LPD-7), where he deployed with the TRIPOLI and ESSEX Amphibious Ready Groups. During this tour, Captain Wilson served as Air Officer, Aviation Fuels Officer, and Ship Safety Officer, stood the watch as Helicopter Control Officer and Officer of the Deck, and qualified as Surface Warfare Officer.

For his Department Head tour, Captain Wilson transitioned to the SH-60B and reported to the "World Famous Wolfpack" of HSL-45. After serving as Squadron Safety Officer, he served as Detachment 10 Officer-in-Charge on USS VALLEY FORGE (CG-50), completing an Arabian Gulf deployment with the USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72)Battle Group. Upon his return, Captain Wilson served as Squadron Maintenance Officer. In November 1999, he reported to the Naval War College, Newport, RI, where he completed a Master of Arts (with distinction) in National Security and Strategic Studies.

In December 2000, Captain Wilson reported to the Directorate of Intelligence, NORAD-U.S. Space Command, Colorado Springs, CO, as Deputy, Intelligence Support to Information Operations Branch. During the Unified Command reorganization of 2002, Captain Wilson was involved in the stand-up of U.S. Northern Command, and the transition of space operations responsibilities to U.S. Strategic Command.

For his command tour, Captain Wilson returned to HSL-45 where he served as the Executive Officer and Commanding Officer from September 2003 to May 2006. Following his command tour, Captain Wilson served as Air Officer on USS BOXER (LHD-4), deploying as one of the initial elements of the Operations Iraqi Freedom Surge. In 2008, Captain Wilson had the opportunity to lead the site survey team to Guatemala in preparation for BOXER's Partnership of the Americas HCA deployment.

Captain Wilson is a Joint Specialty Officer, and holds sub-specialties in Operational Logistics. Anti-Submarine Warfare, Strategic Intelligence and Intelligence Information Management.

After serving as Deputy Commander from October 2008 to December 2009, Captain Wilson now serves as Commander, Amphibious Squadron Seven.
