Master Chief (SW) Travis L. Biswell is a native of Fayetteville, Arkansas and enlisted in the Delayed Entry Program in February 1999. After completion of basic training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, IL in April 1999, he proceeded to Naval Training Center, Dam Neck, VA to complete Operations Specialist “A” school.
In December 1999, he reported for his first tour of duty onboard USS AUSTIN (LPD-4) home-ported in Norfolk, VA. Upon completing this assignment in 2003, he was transferred to USS HOWARD (DDG-83), in San Diego, CA.
In 2005, continuing to seek challenging assignments, he was screened as a Recruit Company Commander and assigned to NTC/RTC Great Lakes, IL. His first year at Recruit Training Command, he was selected and promoted to Chief Petty Officer. After completing a successful tour in October 2008, he was assigned to USS MCCAMPBELL (DDG-85) home-ported in Yokosuka, Japan. Shortly after his arrival he was selected and promoted to Senior Chief Petty Officer (May 2009). He transferred from USS McCAMPBELL in January 2012 and was selected as a Command Senior Chief.
In May 2012, he reported to Amphibious Squadron Five as the Operations Department LCPO. Shortly after his arrival, he was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer and assumed the role of Senior Enlisted Advisor.
Master Chief Biswell has completed two Atlantic and four Pacific deployments on three ships with both surface and amphibious forces. His personal awards include the, Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), various other unit and campaign awards.
