MMCM Donald Miller
Senior Enlisted Leader
Master Chief Donald Miller, a native of Pace, Florida, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July 1984 and reported to Boot Camp at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes.
He was ordered to his initial tour of duty to USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67), homeported in Norfolk, Va. In September 1989, he reported for duty to Fleet Training Center Cryogenics School at St. Juliens Creek Annex, Portsmouth, Va. After graduating, he reported to USS Simon Lake (AS 33), homeported at Holy Loch, Scotland serving as the LPO of the O2N2 Workcenter supporting Commander, Submarine Group TWO. Master Chief Miller then received orders to the Navy Diving and Salvage Training Center, Panama City, Florida. He maintained various hyperbaric systems supporting dive and salvage training.
In 1994, Master Chief Miller was honorably discharged from active duty and joined the reserve component of the U.S. Navy in 1995 as a Construction Mechanic and reported to NMCB 20, Gulfport, Miss. In 1998, he transferred to NMCB 11, Jacksonville, FL.
In 2000, Master Chief Miller returned to active duty and reported to USS John F. Kennedy (CV 67), Mayport, FL, where he served as the Auxiliaries Division LPO. While aboard USS John F. Kennedy, he deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of Enduring Freedom and in 2002 and was advanced to Chief Petty Officer. In 2004 he reported to the Navy Operational Support Center, Kansas City, MO where he served as the Senior Enlisted Advisor. Upon completion of his tour, he volunteered for Individual Augmentee orders to Ramadi, Iraq. While there, he served as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge as well as Officer in Charge during billet vacancies for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Camp Ramadi. In 2009, Master Chief Miller received orders to USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), San Diego, CA. While there he served as the Auxiliaries Division Leading Chief Petty Officer where he was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. While aboard USS Ronald Reagan, he deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. In January 2011, he reported to TSC San Diego and was the Senior Enlisted Leader for Training Support Center Coronado and Point Loma. Master Chief Miller then was assigned to Repair Department onboard the USS Emory S. Land (AS 39) as the Ship’s Superintendent. He is currently assigned to Commander, Amphibious Squadron FIVE as the Senior Enlisted Leader. He is a graduate of Baker University with a Bachelors of Science in Management (Cum Laude).
Master Chief Miller has been awarded the Bronze Star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (fifth award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (fifth award) and various campaign and service medals.
