|CAPT Brad Arthur
Commander Arthur a native of Lemoore, California and is a 1993 graduate of The Citadel (The Military College of South Carolina) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science - National Security Strategy and International Affairs. Commander Arthur received his commission through the Navy Officer Candidate Program in 1995 and received his Wings in August 1997 in Milton, FL, and reported to NAS North Island, California, for pilot training in the SH-60F/HH-60H Seahawk.
He served as the commanding officer of the “Tridents” of HSC-9 from October 2012 to January 2014 assigned to CVW-8 aboard USS GEORGE H W BUSH. The Tridents were chosen to lead the fielding of the new 2.75” unguided rocket weapons system into the H-60 helicopter fleet. The command earned the 2012 CNO Safety “S” Award, the 2012 Retention Excellence Award and Commander Arthur was presented both the 2012 and 2013 CNAF Navy and Marine Corps Association peer leadership award. His other sea tours include Line Division, Assistant Operations, and Quality Assurance Officer with the “RED LIONS” of HS-15 assigned to CVW-17 aboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER and GOEORGE WASHINGTON; Assistant Navigator USS RONALD REAGAN CVN-76; Department Head Maintenance Officer with the “NIGHTDIPPERS” of HS-5 assigned to CVW-7 onboard USS DWIGHT D EISENHOWER CVN-69. Ashore, Commander Arthur attended the Helicopter Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course in Fallon, Nevada and reported to Commander Helicopter Anti-Submarine Wing – Atlantic (Weapons and Tactics Unit) as a Seahawk Weapons and Tactics Instructor.
His second shore tour was an assignment to the Joint Staff (J-3) at the Pentagon. Specifically, he was the Assistant Deputy Director for Operations and Global Strike Advisor, Operations Team Three (OT-3) at the National Military Command Center. After relinquishing command of HSC-9, he served as the Helicopter Commander Detailer in PERS 43 at Navy Personnel Command in Millington, TN. Currently, he is assigned to SSFA-Norfolk as the Navy NRO Coordination Group Sea Operations Detachment OIC. Commander Arthur earned his Joint Qualified Officer (JQO) and Masters of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in Newport, RI.
Commander Arthur’s personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), and various unit and campaign awards.
