- The Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group (PELARG) is scheduled to return to Naval Base San Diego from a Western Pacific deployment May 14.
While deployed, PELARG performed maritime security operations, theater cooperation efforts and operational support in the U.S. 5th and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility.
"The ARG has accomplished a lot in our eight months of deployment," said Capt. Shawn Lobree, PELARG commander. "Most significantly we helped maintain security in a volatile part of the world through missions which ranged from counter weapons proliferation, support to special forces, maritime security operations, and multilateral theater security cooperation exercises with countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Djibouti."
The PELARG is made up of amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu (LHA 5), amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) and amphibious dock landing ship USS Rushmore (LSD 47). The embarked 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) is expected to return to Camp Pendleton, May 13.
U.S. Third Fleet leads naval forces in the Eastern Pacific from the West Coast of North America to the international date line and is responsible for providing realistic, relevant training necessary for an effective global Navy.
Lobree will be available to speak to the media after mooring.
