Commander, Amphibious Squadron (COMPHIBRON) 11 is the newest and only forward deployed amphibious squadron in the U.S. Navy. Based out of Sasebo, Japan, the squadron consists of four ships with the flagship amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) at its core. PHIBRON 11 is permanently embarked aboard Bonhomme Richard which has made port calls not only in Japan, but all around the western Pacific. Those visits include Australia, Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Malaysia, to name a few.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide centralized planning embarkation, movement, control, coordination and integration of all aspects of amphibious warfare. PHIBRON 11, along with ships, aircraft, and U.S. Marine Corps support, provides a wide range of capabilities such as:

  • Non-Combatant Evacuation (NEO)
  • Humanitarian Assistance
  • Disaster Relief
  • Maritime Interdiction Operations
  • Recovery of Downed Aircrew and Craft

Commander, Amphibious Squadron (COMPHIBRON) 11 also acts as a contingency response force.
