Born in Bombay India, Master Chief Irani enlisted in the Navy in San Antonio, TX and attended Basic Training at Naval Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL.
Upon completion of Basic Training and Machinist Mate “A” School, he was assigned to the USS Ranger (CV-61) in San Diego where he served in Main Prop for 5 years.
Upon reporting to shore duty at Fleet Training Group San Diego, Master Chief Irani was promoted to Chief Petty Officer, He followed that tour with shore duty at Mobile Training Team AIRPAC San Diego, Afloat Training Group San Diego and Staff at PACNORWEST Everett.
The follow-on sea tour was split between the USS INDEPENDENCE (CV-62) and USS KITTY HAWK (CV-63) in Yokosuka, Japan. From there it was back to San Diego, CA for a tour onboard the USS NIMITZ (CVN-68) where he got promoted to Senior Chief.
Master Chief Irani then reported to CTF76 Detachment in Sasebo Japan and followed that tour on board the USS ESSEX (LHD 2) assigned to PHIBRON11 as the SEA where he was promoted to Master Chief.
His awards include the Navy achievement Medal (Two Awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
