MMCS(SW/AW) Amos R. Kenebrew Jr. is a native of Beaumont, Texas, and a graduate of Central High School home of the mighty Jaguars. Senior Chief Kenebrew entered the Navy in 1994, where he attended basic training at Recruit Training Command, in Chicago, Illinois.

He graduated Boiler Technician (BT) “A” school in Chicago, Illinois in November 1994, which was followed by his first duty assignment onboard USS DIXON (AS-39) in San Diego, California, which he was part of her DECOMISSIONING crew. His subsequent follow on tours include USS MOUNT VERNON (LSD-39), FLEET TRAINING CENTER San Diego, USS BELLEAU WOOD (LHA-3), USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN-76), AFLOAT TRAINING GROUP (ATG) San Diego, served a tour as an Individual Augmentee with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan, and completed his second tour aboard another landing helicopter assault ship; the mighty warship USS Peleliu (LHA-5). During his tours he was converted to the Machinist Mate rating, Command Advanced to Petty Officer Second Class, earned a steaming Engineer Officer Of the Watch (EOOW) qualification, became Master Training Specialist (MTS) and Afloat Training Specialist (ATS) qualified; along with attaining 8 Navy Enlisted Classifications (NEC).

Personal Decorations include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and numerous citations and unit awards.
