CDR Gervy Alota
Deputy Commander

CDR Gervy Alota is a native of Guam and was raised in San Diego, CA. He spent a year at the Naval Academy Prep School before receiving an appointment to the United States Naval Academy. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Oceanography in 1998. In 2010 he received a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management from Webster University.

His sea assignments include Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer and 1st Lieutenant aboard USS JOHN A. MOORE (FFG 19), Auxiliaries Officer aboard USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD 52), Chief Engineer and Executive Officer aboard USS COMSTOCK (LSD 45), and the Officer in Charge and Commissioning Officer of the very first Littoral Combat Ship Mine Countermeasure Mission Package Detachment.

CDR Alota commanded USS COMSTOCK (LSD 45) and was awarded the Battle E while in command.

His assignments ashore include Scheduler for Commander, Amphibious Group Three, Joint War Plans Officer for Commander, Third Fleet, Instructor for the Sea Combat Command Syndicate at Tactical Training Group Pacific and the Operations Assistant Chief of Staff at Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group Three.

CDR Alota is currently serving as the Chief Staff Officer for Commander, Amphibious Squadron One.

His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation and Achievement Medals, the Army Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards.
