Senior Enlisted Leader

Senior Chief Hanna, a native of Springville, IA, enlisted in the Navy in May 1992 and graduated from Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL in July 1992. Upon graduation from RTC, he attended OS “A” School in Damn Neck, VA, graduating in October 1992. He reported to Commander, Amphibious Squadron Eleven in Sasebo, Japan in November 1992.

Senior Chief Hanna transferred in January 1996 and reported aboard USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42) in February 1996. He served as the OI division LPO as a Second Class Petty Officer. In April 1999 he received orders to HSL 51 in Atsugi, Japan, were he served as the NWPL and CMS custodian for six operationally deployable SH-60B detachments.

Senior Chief Hanna received orders to USS ESSEX (LHD-2) in April 2002 and served as the OI division LPO and Command Training Coordinator. He advance to Chief Petty Officer in August of 2004 and then transferred to Commander, Fleet Activities Sasebo, Japan in September 2004. During his short tour with CFAS, he was the Command Urinalysis Coordinator and Leading Chief Petty Officer for the Seabee detachment.

Senior Chief Hanna transferred to Military Sealift Command in March 2005 and served as the Military Detachment Chief Petty Officer in charge on the USNS FLINT. He then received orders to Commander, Afloat Training Group Pacific, stationed in San Diego, CA in May 2006. While at ATG San Diego, he served as the team leader for Antiterrorism Training and VBSS for 30 PACIFIC FLEET Ships.

Senior Chief Hanna received orders in April 2009 to Commander, Amphibious Squadron Eleven in Sasebo, Japan. He served as the Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and Command Senior Enlisted Leader. In May 2012, he received orders to Commander, Mine Countermeasures Squadron Seven to serve as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader and Operations Leading Chief Petty Officer.

Senior Chief Hanna’s personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (two gold stars) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three gold stars) and he is authorized to wear various service and campaign awards.
