Command Master Chief
Master Chief Crossno is a native of Memphis, Tenn. He attended University of Tennessee. He graduated Recruit Training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes in March 1991.
His initial sea assignment was USS PORTSMOUTH (SSN 707) as a member of Sonar Division. During this tour PORTSMOUTH was completing Depot Modernization Period and deployed to the Western Pacific. Master Chief Crossno then reported to USS COLUMBIA (SSN 771) (Plank owner) where he served as a Sonar Supervisor and First LT.
In July 1997 Master Chief reported to SUBMARINE School Groton, CT. as lead instructor of the Basic Sonar Electronics course and the AN/BSY-1 / 2 system pipelines and qualified Master Training Specialist.
Master Chief Crossno then reported for sea duty in USS MIAMI (SSN 755) and served as Deck Division LCPO, Salvage team leader and escape equipment LPO. Promoted to Chief Petty Officer, he remained aboard MIAMI for the Mediterranean Deployment. Master Chief then reported to USS ALBUQUERQUE (SSN 706) as the Combat Systems Department Chief. ALBUQUERQUE completed two surge deployments and one Mediterranean Deployment.
Master Chief Crossno transferred to Commander Submarine Squadron Four in Groton, CT as the Combat Systems Tactical advisor and evaluator. During this tour he earned the Chief of the Boat qualifications and was advanced to Senior Chief Petty Officer. Master Chief Crossno graduated the Senior Enlisted Academy in New Port, RI class 134 (Gray) and the Command Master Chief / Chief of the Boat Capstone course prior to assuming the duties as the Chief of the Boat aboard USS HAWAII (SSN 766). HAWAII completed a Eastern Pacific Deployment earning the U. S. Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Citation with O for drug operations in the Pacific Theater and later conducting an inter fleet transfer of HAWAII to Pearl Harbor, HI in 2009.
Master Chief Crossno reported to Commander Submarine Forces Pacific as the Staff Command Master Chief August 2010. He assumed the responsibilities of Command Master Chief of USS PORT ROYAL in January 2013. After a successful tour onboard USS PORT ROYAL, Master Chief Crossno reported to Commander, Naval Surface Group Middle Pacific.
Master Chief Crossno’s personal decorations include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (6 awards) and various personal and unit awards.
