CMDCM Anthony Rivera
Command Master Chief

A native of Union City, New Jersey, enlisted in the Navy in 1988 as an Engineman, No stranger to ship life, CMDCM Rivera served aboard a variety of ships in the fleet, including USS LOS ALAMOS (AFBD 7), USS CONSTELLATION (CV 64), USS RUSSELL (DDG 59), USS LAKE ERIE (CG 70).  After being selected to serve as Command Senior Chief and later Command Master Chief, CMDCM Rivera served aboard Destroyer Squadron 50 (IRAQ), USS RENTZ (FFG 47), USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57), and Southwest Regional Maintenance Center before assuming the duties as CMC onboard USS CAPE ST GEORGE (CG 71).

While on shore duty, CMDCM Rivera worked as a tug boat Chief Engineer at Naval Station Pearl Harbor, earning the coveted Craftmaster Pin.  He was also assigned at the Center for Naval Engineering (CNE) as an instructor as well as Senior Enlisted Leader.  With seven deployments to the Western Pacific, South America, Europe, and Arabian Gulf regions, CMDCM Rivera’s Naval career has taken him around the world.

CMDCM Rivera’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy Commendation Medal (6) and the Navy Achievement Medal (6) as well as the Iraqi Campaign Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Medal. Notably, he received the Navy Achievement medal for his part in rescuing four Air Force B-1 Bomber personnel downed in the Indian Ocean during Operation Nobile Eagle and Enduring Freedom and various service medals and citations and a degree for power Plant Engineering.

For exemplifying outstanding leadership qualities most desired in senior enlisted Men and Women at the Senior Enlisted Academy, CMDCM Rivera was awarded the Distinguished Peter Tomish Leadership Award.
