CDR Teresa Elders
Commanding Officer

Commander Teresa Elders is a native of San Antonio, Texas, attended school in New Jersey and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1996. Upon graduation, CDR Elders attended the Royal Military College of Canada and obtained a Master of Arts degree in War Studies in 1998.

CDR Elders’ sea tours include: Strike Officer aboard USS MOBILE BAY (CG 53), Operations Officer on USS HIGGINS (DDG 76), and Operations Officer on USS PRINCETON (CG 59). In September 2005, CDR Elders reported to the Commander Australian Amphibious Task Group where she served as the Training Officer. She last served at sea as the Executive Officer on USS SAMPSON (DDG 102).

CDR Elders served ashore as a Federal Executive Fellow at the Atlantic Council of the United States in Washington, DC and as an Action Officer on the Chief of Naval Operations staff (N3/N5, Operations, Policy, and Strategy). Between her tours ashore, CDR Elders served as a Global War on Terror Support Augmentee to the European Command staff in Stuttgart, Germany, assigned to the Secretary to the Joint Staff.

Following her tour onboard SAMPSON, CDR Elders served as the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff for C4I (N6A) for Commander Naval Surface Forces Pacific before reporting as the plankowner Branch Head for Corporate Operations (N1/N4) for the Commander Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center. She most recently served as the N7 NIFC-CA lead at Tactical Training Group Pacific.

CDR Elders’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards. CDR Elders is also the recipient of the 2005 Navy League of the U.S. Stephen Decatur Award for Operational Competence.
