Command Master Chief

Native of Wichita, Kansas, Command Master Chief Killion graduated from Wichita Heights High School in June 1987. He enlisted in the United States Navy and reported to Recruit Training in San Diego, CA, in January 1988.

Master Chief Killion went to Basic Electricity and Electronic school in Orlando, FL, and then completed Electronic Technician “A” school in Great Lakes, IL. He then reported to Millington, TN, to complete Carrier Air Traffic Control radar school before reporting to his first command, USS Tripoli (LPH-10), in San Diego, CA. Master Chief Killion’s other commands include Service School Command, San Diego, CA; USS Constellation (CV-64), San Diego, CA; Navy Recruiting District Kansas City, MO; USS Mobile Bay (CG-53), San Diego, CA; Southwest Regional Maintenance Center, San Diego, CA; and USS Princeton (CG-59), San Diego, CA. He was formerly the Command Master Chief of the “Warhawks” of Strike Fighter Squadron NINE SEVEN.

CMDCM Killion holds a Master of Arts degree from Brandman University. He graduated from the Senior Enlisted Academy in May 2009 and in May 2012 he completed the Command Master Chief and Chief of the Boat course. He presently serves as the Command Master Chief of the USS Lake Erie (CG-70) “DGUTS”.

In addition to multiple unit and campaign awards, Master Chief Killion’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy–Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), Navy–Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), Combat Action Ribbon, and the Navy Good Conduct Medal (8 awards).
