LCDR David Reyes
Executive Officer

Lieutenant Commander Reyes is a native of Defiance, Ohio and enlisted in the United States Navy in June 1993 under the Seaman Apprenticeship Program. Following completion of Basic Training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, he reported to his first ship, USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65), homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. While serving aboard, he became a rated Quartermaster and was also selected for the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training (BOOST) Program. After successfully completing the BOOST Program and earning an NROTC scholarship in June 1996, he was commissioned an Ensign in 2000 after graduating from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science.

Upon completion of initial Surface Warfare Officer training, LCDR Reyes served in USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG-48) as Electrical Officer, CIC Officer and Admin Officer followed by a tour in USS JOHN S. MCCAIN (DDG-56) as Damage Control Assistant.

Following his initial sea tours, LCDR Reyes attended the Naval Postgraduate School where he earned a Master of Science Degree in Systems Technology (Joint C4I) and completed the Naval War College non-resident course for Joint Professional Military Education Phase I. He then went on to attend the Surface Warfare Officer Department Head Course in Newport, Rhode Island.

Following Department Head School, LCDR Reyes served on USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG-54) and USS SHILOH (CG-67) as Chief Engineer. He then went on to serve on the staff of Commander Carrier Strike Group FIVE/ Commander Task Force 70 as the Deputy Material, Logistics and Readiness Officer.

He is currently serving as the Executive Officer onboard the USS CHOSIN (CG 65) in Pearl Harbor, HI.

LCDR Reyes’ awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and various other unit and campaign awards.
