LT George M. Wehunt
Executive Officer

Lieutenant George M. Wehunt hails from Augusta, GA. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in 2000, completing basic training in Great Lakes, MI. He served as a Gunners Mate from 2000 to 2012. In 2007, He was selected to Chief Petty Officer. In 2012, he was selected into the Limited Duty Officer Program.

LT Wehunt’s sea duty includes service in USS ANTIETAM (CG 54) in San Diego, CA from 2000 to 2005 as a MK45 5”/54 MOD 2 Light Weight Gun Mount Technician. He served in USS DEWEY (DDG 105) in San Diego, CA from 2008 to 2011 as CM Division Leading Chief Petty Officer. He served in USS CHOSIN (CG 65) in Pearl Harbor, HI from 2012 to 2016 as Systems Test Officer.

LT Wehunt’s shore duty includes service in Center for Surface Detachment West in San Diego, CA from 2005-2008 as a MK45 5”/54 MOD 2 Light Weight Gun Mount Instructor. He served in South West Regional Maintenance Center in San Diego, CA from 2011 to 2012 as a MK41 Vertical Launching System Technician.

LT Wehunt is currently serving as Executive Officer of USS CHOSIN (CG 65).

His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
