YOKOSUKA NAVAL BASE, Japan (April 21, 2011) – Sailors of the USS Cowpens (CG 63) were honored to host Vice Admiral Scott R. Van Buskirk, Commander, U.S. Seventh Fleet during a visit on Thursday.
Vice Admiral Van Buskirk toured the Cowpens and spoke to the whole crew, praising the Sailors of Cowpens for all of their efforts during Operation Tomodachi. “No other Navy in the world could do what you guys did,” Vice Admiral Van Buskirk said.
“It’s always good to get your local commander out here. It lets you know what they are thinking, and it’s always nice to get that pat on the back,” said Chief Warrant Officer Richard Webb.
Cowpens is a Ticonderoga Class guided missile cruiser assigned to the George Washington Strike Group and currently undergoing maintenance in Yokosuka, Japan.
