YOKOSUKA, Japan (June 02, 2011) – Sailors of the USS Cowpens (CG 63) celebrated the achievements of their peers today during the Frocking and Awards Ceremony. With four new Petty Officers First Class, nine Petty Officers Second Class and seventeen Petty Officer Third Class, plus fourteen awards presented, there was much to be celebrated on.
Captain Marin presided over the ceremony. “I am very pleased that so many of our Sailors have been rewarded for their hard work. This is a great crew, and with so many new Petty Officers, it will only get better. I extend my congratulations to these fine Sailors.”

Cowpens is a Ticonderoga Class guided missile cruiser assigned to the George Washington Strike Group and currently undergoing unit level training.
