Command Master Chief

Command Master Chief Richard Putnam hails from Harvey, IL. He entered active naval service in November 1990, reporting to Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California. Upon completion of recruit training he attended Fireman Apprenticeship School as an undesignated Fireman Recruit. In 1992, he attended Aviation Boatwains Mate Fuels "A" school and returned to the fleet.

CMDCM Putnam served at sea in USS Vulcan (AR 5); USS John F Kennedy (CV 67); USS America (CV 66); USS George Washington (CVN 73); USS John C Stennis (CVN 74); USS ESSEX (LHD 2); and second tour on USS George Washington (CVN 73).

Assignments ashore included: Two tours Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL.

He is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 163 and Command Master Chief Capstone, Class 112.

He also holds a Masters degree in Human Resource Management from Webster University.

Command Master Chief Putnam's personal awards include: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 gold stars) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal
