Chancellorsville Officer Selected to Receive Arleigh Burke Award for Operational Excellence
San Diego, CA
(NBSD) -- The Surface Navy Association (SNA) has selected LCDR Michaela K. Golding, as one of this year's recipients of the Surface Navy Association's Arleigh Burke Award for Operational Excellence.
The purpose of the award is to recognize her superior achievement as the Operations Officer onboard USS Chancellorsville (CG 62) and USS Higgins (DDG 76) from September 2009 through September 2010. She was selected from a very competitive group of nominees; all the nominees for this award are proposed by Strike Groups, Amphibious Ready Groups, Forward Deployed Naval Forces, unit operational commanders, and ship squadron commanders. Clearly, she is an outstanding operational leader, who can be justifiably proud of her selection.
This prestigious award will be presented to LCDR Golding by the SNA during their Annual Awards Luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, in Crystal City, VA, on 13 January 2011 (Details at http://www.navysna.org/2011Symposium/Index.htm).
The SNA strives to recognize leaders in the fleet, and as part of that commitment they will be featuring LCDR Golding’s picture alongside other award winners in a display at the Navy Memorial located in downtown Washington, DC.
LCDR Golding’s record speaks for itself and she is to be commended for the leadership she provides on a day-to-day basis to the surface warfare community, the United States Navy and our great nation.
