170319-N-VR594-125 PACIFIC OCEAN (March 19, 2017) The guided-missile destroyers USS Pinckney (DDG 91), USS Howard (DDG 83) and USS Shoup (DDG 86) steam in formation behind the guided-missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59) during a life-fire exercise while underway for composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX) with the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group in preparation for an upcoming deployment. COMPTUEX tests the mission readiness of the strike group's assets through simulated real-world scenarios and their ability to perform as an integrated unit.
