Command Master Chief
A native of Palm Beach, FL, Command Master Chief Michele L. Curtin reported to Recruit Training Command Orlando and upon completion of recruit training remained to attend Seaman Apprenticeship Training. She then reported to Mess Management Specialist (MS) “A” school, San Diego, CA. She completed as an MS but re-enlisted as an Aerographer’s Mate under the Selective Conversion and Reenlistment (SCORE) program reporting to Aerographer’s Mate “A” school, Rantoul, IL shortly after.
She served at sea in USS FRANK CABLE (AS 40), USS DUBUQUE (LPD 8), USCGC RUSH (WHEC 723), USS DAVID R. RAY (DD 971), USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54), USS O’BRIEN (DD 975), USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74) and USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2).
Her shore assignments include Naval Weapons Station Charleston, SC, Naval Ice Center Suitland, MD, Naval Pacific Meteorology and Oceanography Detachment Bangor, WA, Center for Naval Leadership Site Bangor, WA and Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Jacksonville, FL.
After selection to the Command Senior Chief program in January 2008, she reported to Fleet and Industrial Supply Center Jacksonville, FL as the Command Senior Chief. She was subsequently selected for Master Chief Petty Officer and reported to USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2 Gold) as the Command Master Chief in May 2012. In January 2014 she reported as USS PRINCETON’s Command Master Chief.
Master Chief Curtin is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy Class 125 (Inaugural Grey) and Chief of the Boat/Command Master Chief Course Class 82.
Her personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 awards), Naval Air Forces Leadership Award and various other campaign and service medals.
