Deployment 2011
The brave crew of the Aegis cruiser, USS Mobile Bay, have embarked on a challenging deployment to protect our nation’s interests and to defend freedom around the world. On July 27th, 2011 the men and women of the Mobile Bay stoically manned the rails of the departing ship as family and friends bid a tearful farewell to their loved ones and close friends as they ventured onto the open sea. Those left behind on the home-front know that their sailors are off to do great things over seas.

Deployment can be a challenging time for any military member, but the sea warriors of the Mobile Bay are trained, ready, and willing to do a job that needs to be done and must be done by this crew. From the engineers that keep the ship moving through the water, to the quartermasters that give the guidance to steer the ship safely through the pearilous seas, this crew is ready to bring the fight to those that threaten freedom and decency around the world. The one team one fight mentality is strong here on the Mobile Bay and a strong sense of pride in what is being done is exhibited by the crew in their daily actions abroad her. The ship is properly manned and ready for the fight, but also ready to lend a hand to those in need. On this voyage the Mobile Bay will represent the face of the Navy and in turn the face of the America overseas. With smiling faces friends overseas are greeted, and with compassion those in need are assisted. Opportunities to do good are looked out for with eagerness and arise with each rising sun. The general consensus of the crew is one of optimism, and their thoughts are on what challenges lay ahead.

Challenges of deployment vary not just from place to place, but from time of day as well. There is a kaleidoscope of views to deal with the varied challenges the crew will face on a daily and even hourly basis on deployment. At any moment challenges may arise, but the crew is trained and ready to battle any problem whether it be pirates off of a foreign shore or delivering aid to those in need. Deployment will give the opportunity for the sailors of the Mobile Bay to not only utilize their skills they already have, but to acquire new ones in the learning environment of the real world. This fast pace hard driving life is not for everyone, but for those on this ship it is the only way to live.

With the brave crew of the Mobile Bay setting sail for foreign shores those they left behind may feel safe knowing that the world’s greatest navy is defending them and others around the world. The ship is fast, equipped, and well manned the only ones to fear it are those that stand in her way.
