CMDCM James W. Follmer
Command Master Chief

Command Master Chief James W. Follmer hails from Los Angeles, California and enlisted in the United States Navy in June of 1992. He attended Recruit and Advanced Training in San Diego, California.

His sea duty assignments include USS ENGLAND (CG 22), USS MERRILL (DD 976), USS TARAWA (LHA 1), USS JARRETT (FFG 33), USS FRANK CABLE (AS 40), and USS ARDENT (MCM 12). His shore tours include Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activity (SIMA), Center for Naval Engineering Learning Site, San Diego (CNELS), and Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC).

He is a 2013 graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 165 (Brown Group) and the Command Leadership Course in 2015.

Command Master Chief Follmer is authorized to wear the Enlisted Surface and Air Warfare designators. He has earned his Master Training Specialist designation and an Associate’s Degree in Supervision and Management. His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (seven awards), and the Good Conduct Medal (seventh award), and numerous unit and campaign awards.
