On board USS Momsen (DDG 92) - Leadership changed for Command Destroyer Squadron 9 during a change of command ceremony on board USS Momsen (DDG 92), July 9. During the ceremony, Capt. Michael J. Slotsky turned over the DESRON 9 reins to Capt. Carrol A. Hottenrott.
Slotsky commanded DESRON 9 since February 2009. “The privilege of serving with you, leading and mentoring you, and serving proudly as the deputy and commodore will be with me always,” said Slotsky.
Hottenrott has been serving as the DESRON 9 deputy. She has also served on board USS Hoist (ARS 40), ASS Papago (ATF 160) and USS Brunswick (ATS 3) as the executive officer in Sasebo, Japan. She has conducted numerous diving and salvage operational and training support missions for U.S. and coalition forces.
Following a tour as the Operations Officer on the USS Kinkaid (DD 965), she served as the Operations Officer on the staff of Commander, Destroyer Squadron Seven, and commanded USS Pelican (MHC 5).
“This command’s records of accomplishment are just that, records,” said Hottenrott.
“We need to continually press forward, setting new milestones,” she added.
