Senior Chief Jon C. A. McCormick, a native of the Pacific Northwest, joined the United States Navy in 1989. After completing Recruit Training in Great Lakes, Illinois he attended Operations Specialist “A” school at Fleet Combat Training Center, Dam Neck, Virginia.
His first tour of duty was onboard USS COPELAND (FFG 25), homeported in San Diego, CA. His next duty assignment took him North to USS CAMDEN (AOE 2), homeported in Bremerton, WA. In 1997 Senior Chief McCormick reported to the NAS Fallon Security Detachment, Nevada as a Physical Security Specialist, Detachment Training Officer and Crime Prevention Coordinator. His next duty assignment took him to the Far East aboard USS SAFEGUARD (ARS 50), homeported in Sasebo, Japan. He then served aboard USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG 48), homeported in Yokosuka, Japan. Senior Chief McCormick returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2005 and reported to the Afloat Training Group Pacific Northwest in Everett, WA where he served as Assistant Training and Standards Officer, and Surface Warfare Assessor. In 2008 Senior Chief McCormick attended the Senior Enlisted Academy in Newport, RI as a member of Class 138 “Khaki Group”. He is currently assigned to Commander, Destroyer Squadron NINE, as the Assistant Operations Officer and Senior Enlisted Leader to the Commodore.
His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), Good Conduct Medal, (5 awards) and various service and campaign awards.
