Commodore (August 12, 2015 - Present)

A native of Hué, Vietnam, Captain Le attended Gar-Field Senior High School in Woodbridge, Virginia, graduating as valedictorian in 1988. He graduated with merit from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in economics.

Captain Le's sea duty assignments included auxiliaries officer and first lieutenant USS Ticonderoga (CG 47), fire control officer USS Wasp (LHD 1), weapons officer and combat systems officer USS Hué City (CG 66), executive officer USS Curtis Wilbur (DDG 54), and commanding officer USS Lassen (DDG 82). He has served with crews that earned six Battle "E" Awards, including USS Lassen in 2009.

He served on the staffs of U.S. 2nd Fleet and U.S. Joint Forces Command and as executive assistant to two commanders, U.S. 7th Fleet. Prior to reporting to Destroyer Squadron Seven, he was the junior military assistant to the 24th secretary of defense.

Captain Le is a Fellow of Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs and was selected as a Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI Fellow. Additionally, he is a graduate of the Naval War College nonresident seminar program and the Joint Forces Staff College.

Captain Le graduated with distinction from the Naval Postgraduate School with a master's degree in operations research in 1999 and summa cum laude from Touro University with a master of business administration in 2005.
