GSCM(SW) Christopher M. Bacon was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in the Greater Boston area. Enlisting in the Navy in September 1981, he attended Basic Training and follow-on Apprenticeship Training at Recruit Training Command Orlando, FL.
Master Chief Bacon’s sea tours include: USS INDEPENDENCE (CV 62), USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69), USS OLDENDORF (DD 972), USS RUSSELL (DDG 59), COMDESRON ONE and COMDESRON SEVEN.
Along with various training and the Precommissioning Detachments and Units RUSSELL and MAKIN ISLAND, GSCM(SW) Bacon served ashore at Naval Station Subic Bay, RP, SIMA Pearl Harbor, HI and as the senior Gas Turbine and Engineering Leading Detailer at Navy Personnel Command in Millington, TN.
Master Chief Bacon holds a BS in Industrial Technology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, from which he graduated magna cum laude.
Master Chief Bacon’s awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 Awards) and various other personal and unit awards.
GSCM(SW) Bacon reported aboard Commander, Destroyer Squadron Seven in August 2007 from PCU MAKIN ISLAND (LHD 8) in Pascagoula, MS and serves as the Assistant Material Officer and Command Master Chief.
