Master Chief Petty Officer Cazares enlisted in the Navy in November 1982 and completed recruit training at RTC Great Lakes, IL and completed Enginemen “A” school at NTC Great Lakes, IL in March 1983.
His first duty station was aboard USS PROTEUS (AS-19) stationed in Agana Guam. His subsequent sea commands were USS FREDERICK, (LST 1184), USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD52), PCU GREENBAY (LPD 20), and USS GERMANTOWN (LAS 42). He assumed duties as the Engineering Department LCPO, Senior Enlisted Leader and Assistant Material Officer for COMDESRON SEVEN September 2009.
Master Chief Cazares’ shore tours include Naval Amphibious Base Coronado boat house, SIMA San Diego outside repair and engine shop, Afloat Training Command San Diego as Instructor, trainer and diesel assessor.
His formal training includes Engineman “C” Marine Diesel Maintenance course Senior Enlisted Academy Class 21.
Master Chief holds an Associates degree from Coastline Community College and is currently pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree from National University.
His personal awards include Navy Commendation Medal (two awards) Navy and Marine Corp Achievement Medal (four awards) and various service and unit awards.
