Captain Matthew J. Jerbi
Deputy Commodore

Captain Jerbi is a native of Gardner, Illinois and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science.

His Division Officer tours were in USS VINCENNES (CG 49) as the Main Propulsion Division Officer and USS O’BRIEN (DD 975) as the Navigator and Training Officer. He served as Operations Officer in Pre-Commissioning Unit MUSTIN, USS MUSTIN (DDG 89), and USS NORMANDY (CG 60). He also served as Flag Secretary/N1 on the Carrier Strike Group TEN staff embarked in USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73) and USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75). His most recent sea tour was as Executive Officer and Commanding Officer in USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2).

Ashore he has served as a maritime warfare instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School and a requirements officer on the Navy Staff, Surface Warfare Directorate (OPNAV N96). His most recent shore tour was on the Joint Staff, Strategy and Policy Directorate (J-5). He has earned a Master of Arts Degree in National Security Affairs from the Naval Postgraduate School and completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase 2 at the Joint Forces Staff College.
