|Captain Peter M. Driscoll, Jr.
Commodore (July 2009 - April 2011)
CAPT Peter Driscoll is a native of Manhasset, New York. He graduated from Villanova University in 1986 with a B.A. in Economics and was commissioned via the NROTC program. CAPT Driscoll served his initial sea tour in USS FLETCHER (DD-992) as Auxiliaries Officer, Main Propulsion Assistant and Combat Information Center Officer, deploying to the North Pacific with the PACFLT ASW Squadron in 1989. Returning to sea in 1992 as Engineer in USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG-57), he conducted Arabian Gulf deployments with the NIMITZ Battle Group in 1993 and Middle East Force (MEF) Surface Action Group 95-1. In 1995, he reported to the THIRD Fleet Staff, embarked in USS CORONADO (AGF- 11), as an N7 exercise planner. As Executive Officer in USS STETHEM ( DDG-63), he deployed to the Arabian Gulf with MEF Surface Action Group 01-1. CAPT Driscoll commanded USS HOPPER (DDG- 70), homeported in Pearl Harbor, from March 2005 to January 2007. During his tour, HOPPER deployed to Southeast Asia in support of CARAT 2006 and executed four ballistic missile defense test and evaluation events.
Ashore, CAPT Driscoll served on the Chief of Naval Operations staff as an action officer in the Strategy and Policy Division (N512) and on the Joint Staff as a strategic planner and branch head in the Conventional Wars Plans Division (J7 CWPD). His most recent assignment was as Executive Assistant to Commander, THIRD Fleet. CAPT Driscoll assumed command of Destroyer Squadron SEVEN in July 2009 and commanded Task Group IRAQI MARITIME from July to September 2009.
CAPT Driscoll has earned an M.S. in Applied Science from the Naval Postgraduate School and an M.A. in National Security Studies from the National War College. His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Meritorious Service Medal.
