|Captain David E. Fowler
Captain David Fowler graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1994, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering. He also holds a Master of Engineering Degree in Environmental Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.
Captain Fowler’s commanded USS HALYBURTON (FFG 40) homeported in Mayport, Florida; and most recently Nuclear Power Training Unit Ballston Spa. His at-sea assignments include First Lieutenant and Combat Information Center Officer on USS O’BANNON (DD 987); Reactor Electrical Officer, Electrical Officer, and Crew Engineer on USS CALIFORNIA (CGN 36); Operations Officer on USS McFAUL (DDG 74); Reactor Training Assistant and Assistant Reactor Officer on USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71); and Executive Officer on USS BAINBRIDGE (DDG 96).
Ashore, Captain Fowler served as an NROTC Instructor at The Pennsylvania State University, Junior Board Member and Executive Officer for the Fleet Forces Command Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board (NPEB), and as a staff officer at the Allied Maritime Component Command Naples working in Plans Division overseeing Operations ACTIVE ENDEAVOUR and UNIFIED PROTECTOR.
Captain Fowler assumed his duties as Deputy Commodore Destroyer Squadron TWO THREE in July 2017.
His personal awards include the Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards).
