Commodore

Commodore Beaver assumed duties as the 52nd Commander of Destroyer Squadron TWENTY~ONE on the 30th of March, 2012.

 

He entered the Navy as a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Midshipman at the University of Mississippi where he was commissioned following graduation in 1987.

 

His initial assignment was in USS Conyngham (DDG 17) where he served as Gunnery Assistant, Boilers Officer, and Main Propulsion Assistant. Subsequent operational assignments include duty in USS Ingersoll (DD 990) as ASW Officer, Fire Control Officer, 1st Lieutenant, and CIC Officer, and in USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) as Weapons Control and Combat Systems Officer.

 

His previous commands include USS Avenger (MCM 1) and USS Bulkeley (DDG 84).

 

Ashore, he has served as an instructor at the U.S. Naval Academy, as a student at the U.S. Naval War College, on the staffs of a U.S. Senator, the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe & Commander, U.S. European Command, in Deep Blue on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and on the National Security Staff in the Executive Office of the President.

 

Captain Beaver has earned a BA in History, an MA in National Security & Strategic Studies, and was a Georgetown University Fellow.
