CORONADO, Calif. – Sailors assigned to Beachmaster Unit One (BMU-1) participated in the fifth annual Sexual Assault Awareness, Prevention and Response (SAPR) 5-kilometer run and 2-kilometer walk on board Naval Air Station North Island, April 24.
The event was held as a part of SAAPR awareness month with this year’s theme of "Eliminate Sexual Assault: Know your part. Do your part" which encourages everyone to join together to eliminate sexual assault.
Sexual assault is a problem that devastates victims, dissolves unit cohesiveness, threatens teamwork and undermines fleet readiness. Making Sailors aware of the problem is a vital step in the Navy's prevention and response program.
