|CDR Frank N. Quiles
Commander Quiles is a native of Long Island New York. He received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1988 from Marquette University and in 1996 earned a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School. In 2001, he also attended the Venezuelan Naval War college Command Staff Course located in Caracas Venezuela.
Commander Quiles’ operational tours include duty in USS WHIPPLE (FF 1062) as Gunnery Officer, Navigator, Administration Officer, Main Propulsion Assistant; HMS BRAZEN stationed in Plymouth England as Undersea Warfare Officer, First Lieutenant, and Officer of the Watch; USS JOHN L HALL (FFG 32) as the Engineer Officer; USS MOBILE BAY (CG 57) as the Engineer Officer; USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6) as the Damage Control Assistant, CARRIER STRIKE GROUP FIFTEEN as a Plans and Readiness Officer; Commander Strike Forces Training Pacific as Opposition Forces Director where he went on Individual Augmentation to Iraq and perform duties as Iraqi Ministry of Interior National Command Center Liaison Officer in Charge; and USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57) as Executive Officer.
Commander Quiles’ shore tours include Director of Training at Fleet Antisubmarine Warfare Training Center and Director Damage Control and Firefighting (N79) and for Surface Warfare Officers School.
Commander Quiles’ awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (4), Joint Service Commendation Medal; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2); Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2) and various campaign and service ribbons.
