Command Master Chief (July 2009 - February 2014)

Master Chief Eveland, originally from Kansas City, Kansas enlisted in the Navy in May 1984. After completing Operations Specialist “A” School, Master Chief Eveland reported aboard the USS Knox (FF-1052) in Yokosuka, Japan. Onboard Knox, he served from 1984-1987 as Combat Information Center Watch Supervisor. During this time Knox made deployments to the Indian Ocean and various exercises and missions throughout the SEVENTH FLEET Area of Responsibility.

From 1987 to 1990 he served as Operation Control Supervisor and Briefing Officer at Commander Patrol Wing ONE Detachment, Misawa, Japan supporting Maritime Patrol Aircraft in the SEVENTH FLEET Area of Responsibility. Deployments included out of area prosecution events to Subic Bay, Guam and Okinawa.

From 1990 to 1993 he served as Operations Control Supervisor and Leading Petty Officer at COMMANDER TASK FORCE 74, Yokosuka, Japan. His duties included Database Manager and OTCIXS/TADIXS gateway control supervisor.

From 1993 to 1996 he served as Tactical Flag Command Center Leading Petty Officer and Watch Supervisor for COMMANDER SEVENTH FLEET, Yokosuka, Japan. Deployments included numerous underway periods throughout SEVENTH Fleet in support of COMMANDER SEVENTH FLEET Operations. He was selected for Chief Petty Officer prior to transfer.

From 1997 to 2000 he served as Harbor Movements Officer at Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan. His duties included the planning berthing assignments, scheduling and execution of all ship movements within the harbor, as well as oil spill response and environmental compliance.

From 2000 to 2003 he served as Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer onboard USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), in Yokosuka, Japan where he was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer. Duties included Combat Information Center Watch Officer, Piloting Officer, Shipping Office, Training Officer, TADTAR Coordinator, and Senior Enlisted Watchbill Coordinator. Deployments included numerous underway periods throughout SEVENTH FLEET in support of SEVENTH FLEET Operations.

From 2003 to 2006 he served as Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer at Commander, Submarine Group SEVEN Yokosuka, Japan where he was selected to Master Chief Petty Officer. His duties included Command Fitness Leader and Mission Data Update Coordinator.

From 2006 to 2009 he served as Operations Department Leading Chief Petty Officer onboard USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN-72). His duties included managing the daily operations of a 300 person department. While attached to ABE, he also completed a six month Individual Augmentee tour onboard USNS GYSGT FRED W STOCKHAM (T-AK-3017) in support of Joint Task Force 515 and Joint Special Operations Forces-Philippines. His duties on STOCKHAM included acting as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Commodore for embarked Marines, helo detachments, VBSS and Special Forces personnel.

In July of 2009, Master Chief Eveland reported to Afloat Training Group Pacific Northwest and is serving as Command Master Chief.

Personal awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal, five Navy Commendation Medals, 4 Navy Achievement Medals, seven Good Conduct Medals and various other unit awards.
