|LCDR Jacob Haro
Lieutenant Commander Haro is a native of Simi Valley, California. In October 1995 he enlisted as a Fireman Apprentice. From 1996 to 1998 he worked for Main Propulsion Division in USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) where he later struck to the rate of Damage Controlman. In 1999 he changed rate to Intelligence Specialist and was one of the Leading Petty Officers for the Carrier Intelligence Center (CVIC) in USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72) from 1999 to 2000. After achieving the rank of Petty Officer Second Class, he was selected to Officer Candidate School and received his commission in July 2001.
Between 2002 and 2013, Lieutenant Commander Haro served as the Electronic Warfare Officer in USS TARWA (LHA 1) homeported in San Diego, CA; as Communications Officer, Main Propulsion Assistant, and Chief Engineer in USS HALSEY (DDG 97) where he was a Plankowner and completed the homeport shift from Pascagoula, MS to San Diego, CA; as Chief Engineer in USS SHOUP (DDG 86) homeported in Everett, WA; and Future Operations Officer (N5) and Staff Director for Commander Destroyer Squadron TWENTY-ONE embarked in USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74).
Ashore, Lieutenant Commander Haro was the lead Surface Warfare Instructor for the Navy Recruit Officer Training Command (NROTC) at Oregon State University. In 2008 he took part in OPERATION NEW DAWN as a Battle Major for the Multi National Forces Iraq (MNF-I) Strategic Operations Center (SOC) located in Baghdad, Iraq. He assumed his current assignment as Executive Officer at Afloat Training Group Pacific Northwest in June 2013.
Lieutenant Commander Haro holds an undergraduate degree in Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a Masters Degree in Criminal justice.
His decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy-Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards) and a Navy-Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), as well as various other campaign and unit awards.
