A native of Cocoa Beach, FL, LCDR Rich earned a commission through the Nuclear Enlisted Commissioning Program from Auburn University in 2002 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

At sea, his assignments include First Lieutenant in USS GETTYSBURG (CG 64), Reactor Controls Division in USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72), Operations Officer in USS BENFOLD (DDG 65), Reactor Electrical Assistant in USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74).

Ashore, he served as Executive Officer and Naval Science Instructor at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University NROTC, and as Surface Warfare Nuclear Community Manager.

LCDR Rich qualified as Naval nuclear engineer in 2007 and earned a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University.

His awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (3 awards), and various campaign and unit awards.
