Commanding Officer (December 2011 - July 2013)

Commander Goetz is a native of Woodland, Maine. He was commissioned in 1995 after graduating from Maine Maritime Academy with a Bachelor degree in Nautical Science and unlimited Third Mate’s license in the Merchant Marine.  

Sea duty assignments include tours as First Lieutenant, Strike Officer and Auxiliaries Officer aboard USS THORN (DD 988), Chief Engineer aboard USS GUARDIAN (MCM 5), N4 under COMPHIBRON ELEVEN, and as Navigator aboard USS NASSAU (LHA 4). Commander Goetz has completed deployments to the Arabian Gulf, Indian Ocean and Mediterranean Sea.

Shore duty assignments include: Naval Postgraduate School where he earned a Masters Degree in Middle Eastern National Security Affairs and OIC of Center for Security Forces largest Learning Site, Chesapeake, Virginia.

Commander Goetz is currently serving as Commander Afloat Training Group Pacific Northwest.

His personal awards include Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal and various other personal and unit awards.
