CDR Timothy Wilke
Commanding Officer

Commander Timothy Wilke is a native of Schaumburg, Illinois. He attended St. Viator High School and is a 1996 Marquette University graduate; receiving a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration and a commission in the United States Navy through the NROTC program.

At sea, Commander Wilke served in Division Officer tours from 1996-2000 as the Ordinance Officer aboard USS RENTZ (FFG 46), home ported in San Diego, and as the Main Propulsion Assistant aboard USS CHOSIN (CG 65), home ported in Pearl Harbor HI. He also served as the Flag Aide to COMMANDER NIMITZ BATTLE GROUP. Returning to sea in 2003 as a Department Head; he served as the Operations Officer on the USS DECATUR (DDG 73) and then as Operations Officer aboard the USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57), both home ported in San Diego till 2006. From 2011 till 2014 Commander Wilke served as the Executive Officer then fleeted up as the Commanding Officer of the USS FREEDOM (LCS-1) GOLD Crew. In 2013, while in command, the FREEDOM conducted her historic first in class maiden deployment to South East Asia.

Ashore, Commander Wilke served as the Maintenance Type Desk Officer to Commander Logistics Group Western Pacific in Singapore from 2000 to 2001 and from 2007-2010 he was assigned to the Headquarters Maritime Component Command Naples Italy for NATO Forces Southern Europe as a Future Plans (N5) Staff Officer supporting Operation Active Endeavour.

A 2007 graduate of the Naval War College Commander Wilke holds a Master's Degree in National Defense Policy, Strategic Studies. He has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy Commendation Medal with three gold stars, and various unit and campaign awards.
