Commanding Officer

Commander Timothy Wilke is a native of Schaumburg, Illinois. In 1996 he received a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Marquette University and a commission in the United States Navy.

At sea, Commander Wilke served as the Ordinance Officer aboard USS RENTZ (FFG 46), out of San Diego, and as the Main propulsion Assistant aboard USS CHOSIN (CG 65), out of Pearl Harbor HI. He also served as the Flag Aide to COMMANDER NIMITZ BATTLE GROUP. As a Department Head he served as the Operations Officer on the USS DECATUR (DDG 73) and then the USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG 57), both out of San Diego. From 2011 till 2014 Commander Wilke served as the Executive Officer then as the Commanding Officer of the USS FREEDOM (LCS-1) GOLD Crew. In 2013, while in command, the FREEDOM conducted her historic first in class maiden deployment to South East Asia.

Ashore, Commander Wilke served as the Maintenance Type Desk Officer to Commander Logistics Group Western Pacific in Singapore from 2000 to 2001 and from 2007-2010 as a Future Plans (N5) Staff Officer assigned to the Headquarters Maritime Command Naples Italy, NATO Forces Southern Europe supporting Operation Active Endeavour.

Commander Wilke holds a Master’s Degree in National Defense Policy, Strategic Studies as a graduate of the Naval War College. He has been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with four gold stars, the Navy Achievement Medal with two gold stars, and various unit and campaign awards.
