|LCDR Raoul J. Bastamante

LCDR Bustamante is a native of Los Angeles, California. He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1997 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing and received a commission in the United States Navy through the NROTC program.
His initial assignment was as a Hematology / Oncology Nurse at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland from June 1997 to September 1998. In September 1998, LCDR Bustamante completed a lateral transfer and was redesignated a Surface Warfare Officer. At sea, LCDR Bustamante served aboard USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD 52) as Electronics Material Officer and Assistant Operations Officer from March 1999 to March 2002. He served as Chief Engineer aboard USS RUSHMORE (LSD 47) from September 2005 to February 2007. USS RUSHMORE was awarded the Battle “E” during this period. He also completed a tour as Operations Officer for Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron FIVE.
Ashore, LCDR Bustamante served as a Training Liaison Officer in Afloat Training Group Pacific, San Diego from April 2002 to December 2004. While assigned to ATGPAC, he completed a Masters of Science degree in Global Leadership from the University of San Diego. LCDR Bustamante’s most recent tour was in the Requirements, Policy and Experimentation directorate (N8/9), Commander U.S. THIRD Fleet, as the Requirements, Experimentation and Littoral Combat Ship lead officer.
LCDR Bustamante’s awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (five awards); Navy Achievement Medal; Army Achievement Medal and various unit and service awards.
