Maritime Prepositioning Force Utility Landing Craft (MPFUB)

The Maritime Pre-positioning Force Utility Boat (MPFUB) Program provided for the replacement of the obsolete LCM-8’s (Landing Craft, Mechanized). NAVFAC’s SSPO worked with the Naval Sea Systems Command to award a contract for 10 of the new craft. The first unit has been completed and was scheduled to be delivered to Assault Craft Unit One (ACU ONE) in Coronado, California, early in 2006.

The MPFUB replacement craft would be loaded on 13 Maritime Pre-positioning Force ships and delivered to both assault craft units. The Maritime Prepositioning Force Utility Boat (MPFUB)is designed for transporting 30 persons. Primary roles include ship to ship, ship to shore and emergency medivac transportation.
