Command Master Chief

CMDCM Everett M Mays is a native of Detroit, MI. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the delayed entry program on February 14, 1984, and attended boot camp at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, IL on January 25, 1985. After completing his basic training, Master Chief Mays completed Engineman ā€œAā€ & ā€œCā€ school at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes.
His shore assignments include: Naval Security Group Hanza, Torri Station, Okinawa Japan; Miramar Security Department, NAS Miramar, CA; Navy Recruiting District Michigan, Detroit, MI. He served as Recruiter-in-Charge of Navy Recruiting Station Dearborn, MI where he was promoted to the rank of Chief Petty Officer.
His sea duty assignments include: USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC-19), as a member of the Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF) , Yokosuka, Japan; Assault Craft Unit One (ACU 1) at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, CA where he served as Chief Engineer completing Pacific/Indian Ocean deployments on board USS DENVER (LPD 9), where he earned his ESWS pin, USS PELELIU (LHA 5), USS BELLEAU WOOD (LHA 3) and USS ANCHORAGE (LSD-36); USS MOUNT VERNON (LSD-39) San Diego, CA where he served as Auxiliaries Division Leading Petty Officer; USS BOXER (LHD-4), where he served, as Auxiliaries Division Leading Chief and earning his EAWS pin; COMPHIBGRUTHREE where he served as the Senior Diesel Engineer Assessor for 14 Amphibious ships in San Diego, CA; USS COMSTOCK (LSD 45) where he served as the Engineering Department Leading Chief and received his third EOOW Letter; USS MAKIN-ISLAND (LHD-8) as Auxiliaries Leading Chief where he attained the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer.
He was selected into the Command Master Chief Program and assigned to USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52), and after successfully completing that tour in April 2012 he reported to Assault Craft Unit One in Coronado, CA.
Master Chief Mays is a graduate of U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, (Class 130-khaki) and CMC/COB course (Class 67). His personal awards include, Meritorious Service Medal, Six Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Four Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various unit and campaign awards.
