CDR Michael S. Boucher
Commanding Officer (November 2011 - May 2013)

A native of Bedford, New Hampshire, CDR Boucher graduated from The Maine Maritime Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation in 1992 and received his commission through the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) program.

His initial assignment was to the guided missile frigate USS RENTZ (FFG 46). He served in numerous billets including Ordnance Officer, Auxiliaries and Electrical Officer, and Navigator. CDR Boucher’s next assignment was as the Navigator in the landing ship dock USS COMSTOCK (LSD 45). CDR Boucher’s initial shore assignment was as Assistant Professor of Naval Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

He returned to sea as Operations Officer in USS HARPERS FERRY (LSD 49). His follow on tour was as the Operations Officer for Amphibious squadron SEVEN (CPR-7). CPR-7 deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and augmented the CTF FIFTY ONE staff planning and conducting wartime combined coalition amphibious operations.

Following department head assignments, he went to his second shore assignment in the Future Plans Directorate (J5) on the staff of Commander, US THIRD FLEET.

After his assignment to US THIRD FLEET, Commander Boucher completed his assignment as the Executive Officer of USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42).

He finished studies at the Naval war College in Newport, Rhode Island where he earned a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies in November 2007.

CDR Boucher has recently completed his assignment to the Missile Defense Agency serving as their liaison officer (LNO) to Headquarters, United States Pacific Command. CDR Boucher assumed command of ACU ONE in November 2011.

CDR Boucher’s personal awards include the defense Joint Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
