SAN DIEGO - Judge Advocate General (JAG) officers from the San Diego area gathered at Naval Amphibious Base, Coronado Sept 25 to meet and discuss operations, career options and job experiences.
Naval Surface Forces (SURFOR) hosted the JAG roundtable meeting and provided Navy operation training on the Littoral Combat Ships.
“As a JAG coming straight from law school, this was a great opportunity for me to see what the Navy is doing on the operation side,” said Lieutenant j.g. Beth Dombroski, legal assistance for Naval Legal South West. “I also had the chance to meet senior JAG officers to discuss the different job positions our community has to offer.”
JAG officers in the San Diego plan to meet quarterly to help create camaraderie in the community and allow senior JAG officers to mentor the junior officers.
“Most of the JAGs here are young and in their first tour,” said Lieutenant Commander DeAndrea Fuller, USS Nimitz (CVN 68) Command Judge Advocate, “and senior JAGs have the opportunity to talk to the junior JAGs as far as leadership issues, transiting into the JAG Corp, and informing them about different career options before they transition into their next tour.”
Regional Legal Service Office is the planned host for the next JAG roundtable meeting.
