CORANADO, Calif. – Lt. Cmdr. Milciades “Tony" Then assumed the duties of Flag Secretary for Commander Naval Surface Forces, Vice Adm. D.C. Curtis, July 28, 2008 at Surface Forces headquarters on Naval Amphibious Base Coronado.
Lt. Cmdr Then relieved Cmdr. Joseph Darlak (interim Flag Secretary) in a small ceremony where Vice Adm Curtis pinned on his gold and navy blue aiguillette. Also in attendance was his family, Paola (wife), Sofia (daughter), and Tony (son).
Before reporting to Commander, Naval Surface Forces, Lt. Cmdr Then served as
Patrol Coastal Crew Lima’s commanding officer where he commanded USS Squall, USS Sirocco, and USS Hurricane based out of Little Creek, Va. Other previous tours - USS DONALD COOK (DDG 75) – Chief Engineer; USNA – Admissions; IA – Colombia – South America; USS WADSWORTH (FFG 9) – AUXO.
