EODTEU ONE Sailors Receive Bronze Stars

SAN DIEGO — Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician (EOD) 1st Class (EWS) Tyler B. Borgwardt and EOD 1st Class (EWS) Jason M. Null was awarded Bronze Stars July 24 at Naval Mine Warfare Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center San Diego for their bravery and courage during a tour of duty in Iraq.
Vice Adm. Richard W. Hunt, Commander, United States 3rd Fleet attended the ceremony and presented five Sailors with awards.
“I can’t speak of another unit within the U. S. Navy that has a bigger impact on the war abroad,” said Hunt. “The awards today speak volumes on the depth of the command and EOD force.”
Other awardee’s include: Lt. Brian S. Sauerhage and Senior Chief Damage Controlman (SW/AW) Ramil S. Valdez who received Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and Navy Diver 1st Class(DSW) Michael L. Barnett Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
