The story of Russell is really one of overcoming adversity to attain success. “Although the situation did not appear ideal to begin with,” stated Cmdr. EAST CHINA SEA (NNS) -- A Marine, assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) was medically evacuated (MEDEVAC) from the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) by an MV-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft, assigned to Marine Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 262 (reinforced).
New procedures that will aid surface warfare officers and helicopter pilots while increasing safety during flight operations on destroyers have been successfully tested and recently rolled out to the fleet.

Future USS John Finn (DDG 113) Launched
John Finn is the 63rd Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) class destroyer, and the first of the DDG 51 Flight IIA restart ships. HII currently has three DDG 51 destroyers under construction at the yard and an additional four under contract.
