How to get to the Naval Amphibious Base, Coronado

If you are coming from the north or south of San Diego, use I-5 and take the Coronado/HWY 75 exit. The southbound exit will put you on the San Diego Bay Bridge (the blue bridge). The northbound exit will put you on Palm Avenue/HWY 75 and then the Silver Strand. Please, keep in mind the likely commuting delays due to traffic. If you are coming from the east, take I-8 West to I-5 South to the Coronado/HWY 75 exit.

Southbound Exit Directions -- Once you cross the Coronado Bay Bridge, you will be on Third Street. Follow Third Street to Orange Ave. and turn left. Follow Orange Ave. (HWY 75) through Coronado to Naval Amphibious Base (NAB), Coronado (3/4 mile south of Hotel del Coronado). Turn left onto Tarawa Road. Follow the S-curve around on the Frontage Road past the main gate and turn left onto Tulagi Road and thru the gate. You will be directed to park off to the right as heightened security precludes you driving on base. There will be a passenger van and escort waiting to meet and transport you to COMNAVSURFOR headquarters.

Northbound Exit Directions -- Once you are on the Strand go forward until you see the signs for the Naval Amphibious Base. Turn right onto Tulagi Road (Gate #4). You will be directed to park off to the right as heightened security precludes you driving on base. There will be a passenger van and escort waiting to meet and transport you to COMNAVSURFPAC headquarters.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THERE ARE DELAYS ON THE BRIDGE TO CORONADO AND ALONG THE STRAND DUE TO HEIGHTENED SECURITY AND CONSTRUCTION. PLEASE ALLOW ADDITIONAL TIME FOR DELAYS.
