Force Master Chief Brannon Knox hails from Pawley’s Island, SC. He entered active naval service in June 1986, reporting to Recruit Training Command, San Diego, California. Upon completion of recruit training he attended Radioman Class “A” School and was designated a Radioman.
FORCM Knox served at sea in USS Gridley (CG 21); USS Comstock (LSD 45); USS Jarrett (FFG 33); USS John C Stennis (CVN 74); USS ESSEX (LHD 2); USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3) and USS Nimitz (CVN 68).
Assignments ashore included: Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Detachment Hampton Roads, VA; Bureau of Naval Personnel, Washington, DC; Navy Information Operations Command, San Diego, CA.
In August 2007, he reported as Command Master Chief in USS Howard (DDG 83). Master Chief Knox’ previous assignment was CMC in USS Essex (LHD 2) forward deployed in Sasebo, Japan.
He is a graduate of the United States Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 82 and Command Master Chief Capstone, Class 40.
Force Master Chief Knox’ personal awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 gold stars) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 gold stars).
