Vice Admiral Alexander Krekich
Commander Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (April 1996 - August 1998)

Alexander J. Krekich graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in June 1964 and commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy.  His assignments at sea included the USS Warrington (DD-843) and the USS John King (DDG-3) and as Officer-in-Charge of a Patrol Craft Fast (PCF), also known as a Swift Boat (in Da Nang, Vietnam with coastal Division Twelve).  Krekich was the commanding officer of the USS Ainsworth (FF-1090) and the guided missile cruiser USS Belknap (CG-28) and Chief of Staff to the Commander of the Second Fleet.
 
Vice Admiral Krekich's ashore assignments include the Bureau of Navy Personnel (BUPERS), Senior Examiner on the United States Atlantic Fleet Propulsion Examining Board, Cruiser-Destroyer Program Coordinator for the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Surface Warfare and Executive Assistant to the Vice Chief of Naval Operations.  As a Flag Officer, Vice Admiral Krekich served as: Flag Officer on the Joint Staff in the Pentagon; Commander, Cruiser-Destroyer Group Two; Director of Surface Warfare on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations; and Commander, Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
