Lieutenant Commander Edward J. Pledger graduated in 2000 from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in History. He is also a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and the University of Mississippi where he earned a Masters in Business Administration.
At sea, Lieutenant Commander Pledger served as Commanding Officer of MCM Crew EXULTANT embarked in USS WARRIOR (MCM 10), USS DEXTROUS (MCM 13) and USS CHIEF (MCM 14). Prior to assuming command, he served as Crew EXULTANT’s Executive Officer. He also served as Chief Engineer in USS DECATUR (DDG 73), Navigator and Training Officer in USS CHAFEE (DDG 90) and as Communications and Electrical Officer in USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG 54). Ashore, he was assigned as an Instructor of Naval Science at the University of Mississippi NROTC Unit.
Lieutenant Commander Pledger’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards).
